Improve your practice and keep your body safe as you flow. Come to the Foundational Asana Three Week Series, to learn and develop your postures. A solid foundation will help you move through your favorite classes with the knowledge of how the posture feels in your body. For beginners and experienced practioners that want to reaffirm the basics. This is a great way to learn or get a refresher on the basics of asanas in an intimate non-competitive environment. Sam Wilbur will guide you through the fundamentals of alignment and breath work as you begin to work on building a foundation for your physical practice.
This series is an open format and questions and open dialogue are encouraged. Please register in advance as a minimum registration number is needed in order to keep the workshop on the schedule.
About the Instructor - Sam Wilbur
Yoga is more than physical fitness. It is more than asana. When practiced consciously, Yoga opens a person up to a space beyond the body. Yoga can improve overall health, not by decreasing the size of the body, but by increasing comfort and the self-value of the body one is in.
I prefer to share Yoga in a one-on-one setting in order to customize the practice for the individual's unique needs. When I do teach to groups, the classes are slow moving to ensure safety, and to encourage individual exploration of the posture.
My focus is in Yoga for women's health, and Yoga for trauma. I am currently training at the 500 level with a emphasis on these areas. I am a fully insured 200RYT, with 32 hours of continued education in ascension Yoga. I have also completed my Master's of Clinical Social Work and have trained as a sexual health therapist. I have worked with a variety of populations including: substance abuse and recovery, trauma survivors, and at-risk youth.
